Welcome to our webpage! We hope you will come out to one of our meetings on Tuesdays at 8:00pm in Highsmith Room 104.

We have several upcoming events in October. Hopefully you’ve already seen fliers for these events if you’ve been walking around the UNCA campus any. On October 17th UNCA SDS is leading a rally in support of the Baltimore Algebra’s project which concerns the lack of money going to education. We hope you will join us at 4:30pm on the UNCA quad and make people listen: “Money for jobs and education, not war and occupation!

The following week Carlos Montes, a veteran Chicano activist and leader of the immigrants rights movement will be traveling from Los Angeles to speak to us. He is one of the founders and former Minister of Information of the Brown Berets National Office in East Los Angeles from 1967 to 1970. The Brown Berets emerged as one of the most powerful and militant organizations in the Chicano liberation movement. He will be speaking in the UNCA Highsmith Grotto on Monday, October 22nd from 7:00-9:00pm.
