We’ve gotten off to an excellent start this semester!!

Several SDSers went up to St.Paul MN on September 1st-4th to protest the Republican National Convention!

Since then we’ve been making counter-recruitment plans and we’ve been involved with a new group on campus – Students for a Conscious Consumption, working to get Smithfield products off our campus! We’ve also been involved in a College Access campaign, and attended a rally in support of undocumented students.

Today several SDSers attended a March in Asheville/Hendersonville, part of “National Day of Actions Against Raids & Deportations”. We chanted: “Sherrif, we’re here! We don’t want to live in fear!” and “No 287-G, We just want our dignity!” all the way to the County Courthouse! Then folks from Asheville carpooled to Hendersonville to join in the march there!

We’re also VERY excited to announce that UNCA SDS will be bringing Elaine Brown to UNCA to speak on Oct. 30th, 2008! We’ll be updating with more information on this event very soon!!
